This 2-year program aims to cultivate successful, independent cancer research leaders from diverse population groups to address cancer health disparities by integrating biological and behavioral aspects into their research.

Supported by a National Cancer Institute (NCI) T32 award, the program includes mentors with significant expertise in epidemiology, cancer biology, genetics, biostatistics, neuroscience, immunology, and behavioral medicine and interventions, offering research opportunities focused on the interactions of genetic, molecular, neural, psychological, behavioral, and social factors and its impact on cancer.

The purpose of the Postdoctoral and Clinical Fellowship Program is to recruit and train high quality, innovative basic science and clinical/translational cancer researchers with the potential to successfully compete for extramural funding. Fellowships will be awarded to promising postdoctoral or clinical fellows who are focused on cancer. For clinical fellows, this award is intended to support additional years of research training after completion of their clinical training.

Offered through MCW’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the TL1 START program applies a team science approach to help students achieve clinical and translational research skills. Students receive a 1-year stipend to conduct focused research and develop fundamental, quantitative research skills.

This annual symposium allows trainees an opportunity to showcase their research through oral presentations and poster sessions. The event includes a keynote address from a nationally renowned scientist with attendees comprised of high school, college, and graduate students as well as postdoctoral trainees.
