500 Stars
In partnership with MCW’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the 500 Stars Initiative is an 8-week paid summer internship program that offers students hands-on training and educational opportunities in clinical and translational sciences. Internship sites include research labs, research support settings, clinical care settings, community sites, and more. The community-focused program engages family members throughout the entire experience to ensure student success.


Cancer Health Education Curriculum
The Cancer Center, in partnership with the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, offers a 6-week cancer health education curriculum, which includes basics on cancer biology, risk factors and prevention, screening and early detection, treatment and clinical trials, and survivorship. The curriculum is integrated into the high school's health education course.

Summer Pathway Enrichment Program
To help increase diversity in research, MCW offers several pathway enrichment programs designed to encourage local high school and undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in science, healthcare, and beyond.

Annual Research Trainee Symposium
This annual symposium allows trainees an opportunity to showcase their research through oral presentations and poster sessions. The event includes a keynote address from a nationally renowned scientist with attendees comprised of high school, college, and graduate students as well as postdoctoral trainees.
