皇家华人 Endocrinology Research

The Division of Endocrinology and Molecular Medicine has always maintained a high level of research and scholarly activity. All of our current full-time faculty have been or are currently involved in our clinical or basic-science research programs. All the clinical faculty are actively involved in training, with an active ACGME-accredited Endocrinology Fellowship program that has been in existence since 1962. There is active participation at all levels of medical student education and the research activities has led to many trainees who themselves have become independent successful investigators.

About our Research

Physician-scientists in the division are actively involved in research in a number of areas, including thyroid cancer and diabetes, insulin resistance, and the genetics of obesity. The division is also committed to furthering high-quality research, as reflected in leadership of NIH study sections and other rigorous research activities. In addition, a member of the division faculty currently serves as director of the 皇家华人's NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center.

Clinical Research

We have active clinical research involving the genetics of obesity and metabolic syndrome, genetics and physiological determinants of hypertension, and ACTH and cortisol dynamics in human disease.

Basic Research

There are a number of investigators performing basic research in Endocrinology. These studies range from investigations of sterol metabolism, steroid hormone metabolism, genes involved in fat cell metabolism and the regulation of fat metabolism and energy utilization.
