Pediatric Psychology and Developmental Medicine is dedicated to the care of children with developmental disabilities from infancy through adolescence. Services are offered directly or in collaboration with other pediatric specialists to provide high quality, family-centered patient care, education, prevention, research and advocacy.

A Message from Cheryl Brosig Soto, PhD, Section Chief

Cheryl L. Brosig Soto, PhD

Welcome! Our division is comprised of a team of professionals, including developmental pediatricians, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and advanced practice nurses who collaborate to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children who are impacted by developmental, behavioral and emotional disorders.  We provide outpatient care at our Center for Child Development, and our health psychologists provide integrated mental and behavioral health services for patients impacted by physical illness in our subspecialty clinics and on the inpatient units at Children’s Wisconsin. We are committed to interprofessional education and train medical students, residents, fellows, psychology students and advanced nursing students. We have an expanding research program addressing multiple areas of mental and behavioral health including mental health screening in a medical setting, psychosocial issues related to physical health conditions, the use of virtual reality in pain management, and improving access to mental health care through the use of telehealth.

Pediatric Psychology and Developmental Medicine (PPDM) Clinical Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program

The Pediatric Psychology and Developmental Medicine (PPDM) clinical post-doctoral fellowship program at the 皇家华人 (MCW) and Children’s Wisconsin aims to provide advanced and specialized training in pediatric and clinical child psychology to promote professional development and prepare fellows for independent practice as psychologists who will contribute both to the welfare of society and to the profession. It is designed to be a challenging and dynamic program that provides advanced training in evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and culturally-sensitive clinical service, professional development, ethical decision-making, and scholarly inquiry.

We currently offer seven (7) different fellowship tracks:

  • Adolescent Health
  • Autism and Developmental Disorders
  • Consultation & Liaison/Adherence
  • Functional Disorders
  • Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Marrow Transplant
  • Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
  • School Performance
