Back Injury Prevention Education
SpineCare’s Back Injury Prevention Education Program, run in Train-the-Trainer format, is designed to help business owners develop and implement an ongoing safety program within their company. Lead staff are trained to identify and assist management in modifying work environment situations and physical behaviors of staff-level employees to prevent injuries in the workplace. The emphasis is placed on personal responsibility and working safely together as a team.
Through the use of classroom lecture and slides, demonstration, handouts and brainstorming, the trainer will be provided with information for immediate practical application within the workplace. Learning will be enhanced with repetition of information and “homework” to be completed weekly.
Key components for implementing the program include educating co-workers and developing a system to monitor the safety of co-workers during job tasks. Emphasis is placed on planning and implementation of an ongoing safety program, not just a one-time in-service. Emphasis is also placed on taking personal responsibility for your safety as well as working together as a team and watching out for the safety of one another.
Onsite Ergonomic Evaluation
SpineCare is dedicated to working closely with businesses to help them find ways to control costs associated with employees’ spine problems and other health-related issues.
Our SpineCare occupational therapist, who is a certified ergonomic evaluation specialist, can provide onsite job evaluations to help employees return to work safely and help employers prevent workplace injuries.
Goals of the Analysis
- Identify the duties and tasks of the job.
- Identify the physical requirements of the job.
- Identify the risk factors (critical job demands) of the job.
- Identify the mechanical work aids available at the job.
- Identify the client’s ability to integrate the principles learned at SpineCare into the work place:
- Proper posture and body mechanics
- Proper lift techniques
- Cervical/lumbar stabilization during work tasks
- Interruption of prolonged positions
Recommendations are provided following the evaluation in a written report. The recommendations are reviewed with the employees during the analysis. Copies of the report are sent to the employer, employee and the referral source.
