Trauma and pediatric experience make our program strong.
Froedtert & the 皇家华人 is the only adult Level I Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin. Severely injured patients from as far away as Marinette and Clark counties in Wisconsin to McHenry and Cook counties in Illinois are brought to the Trauma Center for life-saving care. The Trauma Center provides regional leadership on trauma prevention and education offers many educational programs for faculty, residents and other healthcare professionals. Patients at the Trauma Center benefit from our expertise in emergency medicine.
EM residents serve as captain or primary surveying resident for all trauma activations in the ED, rotating between the two roles on a weekly basis with trauma surgery. A second EM resident manages the airway for all trauma activations as well. This experience starts as early as intern year, once comfortable in the role. We have a phenomenal relationship with our trauma surgery colleagues that reinforce the superb education experience of the EM resident.
The Emergency Department/Trauma Center at Children's Wisconsin is one of the busiest pediatric emergency rooms in the nation, treating more than 60,000 children each year. The Center is staffed by pediatric emergency medicine specialists and nurses with extensive pediatric emergency training who provide treatment for illnesses and injuries ranging from asthma to trauma.
A great place to live and learn.
Froedtert Hospital and Children’s Wisconsin are located on the beautiful campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. All demographic groups are represented on this campus, so residents do not have to rotate at multiple hospitals to see the wide spectrum of patients we see here.
The City of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, located four miles west of downtown Milwaukee is the home to the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. Wauwatosa is centrally located within Metro Milwaukee, and is very accessible with direct access to Highway 45 and close proximity to Interstate 94. The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, a consortium of 6 health care institutions whose faculty, staff and patient care givers provide a full range of health care services to the residents of Wisconsin includes Froedtert Hospital and Children’s Wisconsin who share a common mission of excellence in patient care, medical education, life science research, and community service. Additionally with a fleet of four helicopters – based in Waukesha, Burlington and Hartford – the Flight For Life Transport System helps augment health care delivery systems on a local and regional level. With all these groups represented on one beautiful campus residents do not have to travel far to see a broad spectrum of southeastern Wisconsin’s diverse population.
