American Board of Ophthalmology Certification Update

Join 2025 American Board of Ophthalmology Chair Ann Acers-Warn, MD, MBA, for an exploration of board certification in ophthalmology. A story 108 years in the making, Dr. Warn will discuss why ophthalmologists created the nation’s first-ever program to verify competence in a medical specialty and how the concept of peer-driven assessment has evolved into the certification and recertification programs in place today. Participants will sample various types of board exam questions, including the Quarterly Questions program, and review activity options designed to support practicing ophthalmologists. Participants will emerge with a greater understanding of certification processes and new ideas for personalizing the ABO recertification experience.
