The Abdominal Transplant Program at the ʼһ, affiliated with Froedtert Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, is accredited by the Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council of American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) to accept one fellow each year to train in all aspects of adult and pediatric kidney transplantation, deceased donor abdominal organ procurement, laparoscopic living-donor kidney donation as well as patient evaluation, pre- and post-transplantation care and management of immunosuppression medications. The fellows also participate in liver and pancreas transplantation as well as hepatobiliary surgery and management of liver tumors in a multidisciplinary setting. This is an academic program with strong commitment and emphasis on fellows’ education and surgical training. Fellows actively participate in the program’s didactics as well as residents’ training. Clinical research opportunities are available for clinical outcomes studies as well as clinical trials.
