MCW Faculty Co-host Inaugural Interventional Radiology/Radiation Oncology Collaborative Symposium
The inaugural symposium, Progress & Potential: Optimizing Collaboration & Clinical Trial Opportunities in Radiation Oncology & Interventional Radiology, took place on Friday, Dec. 9, in the ʼһ Cancer Center. Co-chaired by Sarah White, MD, MS, and Meena Bedi, MD, MS, the symposium featured presentations on the integration of cancer care in musculoskeletal, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and thoracic oncology.
The conference served as an opportunity to share ongoing research and collaborate on the development of multi-disciplinary clinical trials between interventional radiology and radiation oncology. As a result of the symposium, 12 clinical trial concepts were discussed, many of which are in the initial phases of development.
Feedback received from the attendees’ evaluations indicates that the symposium successfully met its objectives in terms of program content, speakers and opportunities for networking and collaboration, and many indicated that they look forward to participating again next year.
The symposium venues were graciously provided by MCW and supported by the departments of Radiation Oncology and Radiology.
