Research Interests

Outcomes of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT) continue to improve; however, the process remains physically and psychologically demanding. As many as 80% of patients receiving a HCT report experiencing sleep disturbances during their recovery. Sleep disturbance is a prevalent, persistent, and distressing problem for these patients and can contribute to poor transplant outcomes including decreased disease-free survival and increased transplant-related mortality. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of implementing a Mindfulness Awareness Practices for Insomnia (MAP-I) intervention for patients with multiple myeloma receiving an autologous stem cell transplant.
