ʼһ Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program Leadership
Heather Toth, MD - Program Director
Dr. Toth received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School and joined the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics combined residency program at the ʼһ (MCW) in Milwaukee in 2001. During residency, Dr. Toth served as President for the National Med-Peds Residents' Association (NMPRA) and enjoyed working with other Med-Peds physicians across the nation. Dr. Toth served an additional year as a 5th year Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at MCW. Since then, Dr. Toth has remained at the ʼһ in both the Department of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics as a Professor and a Hospitalist for Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. "I truly enjoy my career and feel that Med-Peds is well-suited for optimal patient care and endless opportunities!"
Lolia Abibo, MD, MS - Assistant Program Director
Dr. Lolia Abibo, a native of Nigeria with experiences spanning three countries—Nigeria, Canada, and the United States—graduated with honors from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, earning degrees in Biomedical Science and Human Health and Nutritional Science. Continuing her medical education at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Abibo completed a residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at Beaumont Health in Michigan, where she also served as Chief Medical Resident. In 2020, she joined the ʼһ as an Assistant Professor and Academic Hospitalist, focusing on medical education, global health, and hospital medicine. "I chose to join MCW because from the moment of my interview, I was struck by the institution's unwavering commitment to academia, robust career development opportunities, and its vibrant setting in Milwaukee," says Dr. Abibo. "The collaborative and supportive environment here fosters continued growth and development, making it an ideal place for me to contribute and thrive."
Rebecca Rings Miller, MD - Chief Resident
Rebecca was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, completing her undergraduate degree and medical school at The Ohio State University. She was drawn to MCW for residency by its high-quality academics and approachable, genuine vibe. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband and baby, playing ultimate frisbee, and exploring new restaurants. “I’ve really found myself at home in Milwaukee thanks to my residency family. In my four years at MCW I’ve had unending support to explore and refine my ultimate career interests, guided by leadership that has worked to get to know me as both a person and a physician. Iam so grateful for the opportunity to serve as chief resident in this incredible program.”
Stephanie Hetland, MA - Program Coordinator

Stephanie was born and raised in a small town in Northeastern Wisconsin. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and later a Master’s Degree in Counseling in Higher Education from Lakeland University. Before coming to the Department of Pediatrics, Stephanie spent four years at the Cancer Center working in research and grants administration, but had always found herself wanting to get back into education! In her free time you can find Stephanie playing pickleball, going on boat rides, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the lake where her and her husband met! “I’ve truly enjoyed all of my time here at MCW! The faculty, fellows, residents, and staff have all been amazing in creating a warm and collaborative environment that allows everyone to grow both personally and professionally.”
Emma Kiiskila – Education Program Associate
Emma has always lived in Southeastern Wisconsin, spending much of her life growing up in a small town. She currently resides in the Milwaukee area and enjoys living near the city. She competed her undergraduate degree in English, Secondary Education, and Special Education at Carthage College. Before joining the Department of Pediatrics, she taught high school English. She always had an interest in working in higher education and loves that she gets to support a team that helps children. In her free time, Emma likes to express her creative side through crocheting, painting, and design. She also loves to read, watch reality TV, and spend time with friends and family. “I love working with the Med-Peds team and being able to help our trainees. The faculty and staff go above and beyond to make sure that this is a welcoming and supportive environment. I’ve always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and this job has allowed me to do that.”
