Why I chose MCW: I desired to train at a large, Level 1 academic and research institution that also provided exposure to community-based practices, and MCW offers the best of both worlds. The residents are a tight-knit group who push each other and are invested in one another. We work hard together but also enjoy spending time with each other outside of work, and I was extremely impressed by the program’s camaraderie and culture.
What MCW has to offer a candidate: MCW is a well-rounded residency program that offers excellent training with a high volume and wide variety of pathology. Hands-on operative experiences with early autonomy are without a doubt the program's two biggest strengths. The opportunity to train at bustling metropolitan Level 1 adult and pediatric hospitals prepares you to succeed in any orthopaedic subspecialty. The robust VA and community rotations further embolden your operative decision-making and skills.
What I like about living in Milwaukee: Milwaukee is a fun city year-round. It offers all the perks of a big city while being affordable and accessible. I personally enjoy trying the wonderful food scene, catching professional sports games, and spending time on Lake Michigan.
