Matthew LaPrade, MD
Orthopaedic Surgery Resident
Education
Undergraduate: University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
Hometown: Chanhassen, Minnesota
Hobbies & interests: Minnesota sports, traveling, being out on the lake, grilling, and spending time with my wife and our golden retriever.
Why I chose MCW: I went to MCW for medical school and saw firsthand how well trained the residents were and how close everyone was. The focus on resident education and graduated autonomy in the OR was impressive.
What MCW has to offer a candidate: MCW offers access to a busy VA and Level 1 pediatric and adult hospitals all within a short drive. There are very few fellows, meaning that residents are getting high volumes of operative reps.
What I like about living in Milwaukee: Milwaukee has grown considerably since I started medical school, there are always new restaurants and breweries opening. There is minimal traffic compared to cities of similar size and there are great places to live either downtown or near campus.
