Why I chose MCW: MCW is an extremely well-rounded residency program that provides excellent training in all orthopaedic subspecialties. As someone who attended MCW for medical school, I was able to see the great relationships amongst the residents and faculty alongside the high-quality surgical education that MCW provides. Milwaukee is a wonderful place to live and to train, and I am very proud to have stayed here for my residency training.
What MCW has to offer a candidate: An opportunity to train at a busy level 1 trauma center in a major metropolitan city, with all clinical experiences in the Milwaukee area. From the beginning of the intern year, resident education and operative experience is prioritized. An MCW education provides residents with the tools to succeed in any orthopaedic subspecialty, with dedicated and approachable faculty who consistently treat residents with respect and collegiality.
What I like about living in Milwaukee: Milwaukee is a thriving city. It has all of the amenities of a large city without significant congestion. There are multiple professional sports teams, a wonderful food scene, and many festivals and events constantly happening. Wauwatosa, where Froedtert Hospital is located, is a safe and affordable place to live that is only 15 minutes away from downtown Milwaukee.
