ʼһ Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Research Study – Genetic Studies of Human Ocular Disorders
Purpose of the study:
The goal of this study is to identify and understand the genetic causes of a range of different eye conditions.
What conditions qualify for this study?
Conditions that qualify for this study include but are not limited to anterior segment dysgenesis (Aniridia, Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome, Peters anomaly and other corneal opacities, etc.), congenital/childhood cataracts or glaucoma, microphthalmia/anophthalmia, coloboma, retinal disorders (Retinitis pigmentosa, cone-rod dystrophy, Leber congenital amaurosis, Stargardt, etc.), or other eye conditions that affect more than one person in your family.
What is involved in our research?
We will collect a saliva or blood sample for genetic testing from the affected person and family members (if possible). Enrollment can be completed in-person or remotely via a phone/Zoom call. Enrollment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. If a genetic cause is identified, you will be informed. There is no cost to participate.
